Photo Project Kenya - Who Am I?

Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya, is one of the world's largest slums. The population is at least as large as Gothenburg. In their own words and pictures, a group of young people can now tell their story through an exhibition at a gallery in Nairobi on November 9, and in Gothenburg in early 2020. Grafi Foto is the proud sponsor of the photo project Who Am I? (Mini mi nani in Swahili), carried out by the charity @Wale Wale Kenya and Majornabon @paulinkan.

Out of 30 applications, 15 schoolchildren growing up in Kibera have been selected for a first round starting this week. Each person must document himself, his or her surroundings and their future using a disposable camera. Inspirational lectures and study visits in creative environments they guide along the way.

Photographer Dan Isaac Wallin

Dan Issac Walllin started printing his art posters at Grafi Foto in 2012, after we got in touch on Instagram where we saw his beautiful pictures.

We talked together about how we could print his art posters with a higher quality than what the printing house managed, and after some sample prints we found a paper that Dan was happy with and production was running. The strength of our professional printers and photo labs as well as our personal commitment, is to be able to tailor solutions for our customers ranging from individuals, photographers, companies, graphic artists and artists.

We can offer large and small volumes on different kinds of photo paper, glossy paper, carpet paper, fine art – cotton paper, image printed on Dibond aluminum, image of Acrylic glass. In most sizes from 10cm up to 100cm. Photo paper of the highest quality with archive resistance you always get with us.

Dan Isaac Wallin
How much toil is an image worth? Photographer Dan Isaac Wallin leaves civilization, crosses deserts and makes his way to remote islands. He's dragging big-frame cameras and polaroid film. Stays long, reflects and studies nature. But despite all the time and tribulations, it's worth it, when the composition sits. Then something of your own arises at the moment of exposure. Something bigger than the encounter between the gaze, the camera and the subject. For Dan, photography is a process. An artistic, technical and artisanal expedition. Dan Isaac Wallin works from his studio in Majorna. He has exhibited in galleries in Sweden and abroad, and has published three photo books.

I use Grafi Foto to print my art posters. They're only a few hundred yards away from my studio here in Majorna. Grafi Foto is a family business where you always feel welcome. They are easy to deal with and always helpful if there is something in a hurry.

Hotel setting

In 2019, we designed a hotel setting for the hotel chain Scandic hotel's one facility in the Gothenburg area.
This meant that we were involved from planning images and frames to production, and produced suggestions for motifs from two different Swedish photographers that suited the hotel's image and selected suitable frames together with the hotel manager.
Then we printed on archive-resistant photo paper of the finest quality, and framed the pictures and delivered assembled and ready.
In total there were about 624 pictures and frames.
No photo project is too big or too small for us.

Welcome to us with your image project.
